Hot Off the Press!
New Fiction Connection Functionality
Find the perfect title and e-mail the information back to yourself (or a colleague, or a patron). Bowker’s readers’ advisory tool, Fiction Connection, now has e-mail functionality available for use on the title detail page of every suggestion.

Now it's as simple as 1-2-3!
1) Use Fiction Connection to find the perfect book by either browsing the six main categories (topic, genre, setting, character, location, timeframe) or by typing in the title of a book. Fiction Connection will reveal a list of suggested titles based on your selections. You can refine your search by choosing additional characteristics or select a title to find others with matching traits.
2) Make a selection and click on the cover image or hyperlinked book title to see the full title detail including summary, reviews, excerpts, edition information, and full characteristic list.
3) Click the E-mail title link below the search box. You will then see a pop-up window that allows you to input the e-mail address of your recipient as well as a personalized subject and message.
It is that easy! Within a few seconds, you or your recipient will receive an e-mail complete with full title details, including a cover image. This is an ideal feature when recommending a title to a patron, faculty member, or colleague. You can even encourage patrons to use this functionality for themselves. Perfect for book club recommendations!
If you have any questions or trouble using this feature please contact TechSupport@Bowker.com
Make sure your patrons are aware of your Fiction Connection subscription. Take advantage of our free “cut and paste” announcement copy or our colorful logos for your website.

Wow. Can You Believe ALA Annual is Here Already?
We’re sure your little black book is quickly filling with activities like visiting Jackson Square, Bourbon Street and a branch of the NOPL. But we hope you'll also make some time to stop by Booth #1716 and see what's new from Bowker!
Come experience our Resources for College Libraries Spotlight sponsored by ALA, a wine and cheese reception, a fundraiser for NOPL, and a visit from R.R. Bowker himself! There will also be daily booth presentations on Fiction Connection, Bowker’s Book Analysis System, BooksInPrint.com, Syndetic Solutions, and RCL -- and at each presentation, you will have an opportunity to win a bobblehead!
If you're available on Sunday morning, we are sponsoring an RCL and Fiction Connection breakfast at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel. Breakfast begins at 7:30 and ends at 9:00 AM. We ask that you only attend if you do not have a conflict that morning, as it is important to attend the entire breakfast presentation. RSVP is required. Please e-mail ALABreakfast@Bowker.com if you're interested in attending.
Keep in mind: any new orders placed at the show will receive a special gift. Visit our special ALA webpage for all of the ALA event details.

Cataloging in Publication Survey
The follow is a special request from the Library of Congress:
The Library of Congress announces the availability of the 2006 CIP Survey for Libraries. This survey is intended for libraries -- please, only one response per library -- and is designed to help LC management evaluate the current Cataloging in Publication Program in this, its 35th anniversary year, as well as to inform decisions concerning the future of the CIP Program in the digital era.
Your help is needed, and your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
The CIP Survey for Libraries is hosted by SurveyMonkey, and can be accessed via the Electronic CIP homepage (http://cip.loc.gov) by clicking "CIP Survey for Libraries." (A counterpart survey for publishers that participate in the CIP Program is available on the ECIP homepage as well.)
Note that a disclaimer appears when you click "CIP Survey for Libraries," telling you that you are leaving the LC system. Click "Continue to external site" to access the survey.
Thank you for your help.
John Celli, Chief
Cataloging in Publication Division

Resources for College Libraries Sale Ends July 1st
You've been waiting for the new edition since 1988 -- so why not pre-order and take advantage of the discount?
The new counts for RCL are astounding. We set out to provide a collection of 50,000 core titles for an academic library. As of today, the new Resources for College Libraries will contain 61,806 titles -- and the number keeps growing daily!
For nearly a year, 268 subject editors and bibliographers have been researching and selecting the top titles in 58 curriculum-specific subject areas. The last step is occurring now, with 67 referees carefully considering each selection.
This year's version of the list includes many changes: it can now be purchased online at RCLinfo.net, and it's being used in a collection analysis tool that will instantly tell you if your library holds the titles selected. Electronic resources and web sites are also included in the core list, as well as interdisciplinary subject areas.
The pre-publication discount expires on July 1, 2006. Discounts include 15% off for the web product, 10% off for the print edition, and a 20% discount when both the print and online version are purchased together. If you're interested in pricing, please e-mail us at rclweb@bowker.com.
Visit RCLinfo.net to read about our latest advisor profile or to learn more about the new RCL.

Users can join the BookWire Forum and offer their thoughts on anything from the latest book on their nightstand to their favorite bookstore.
Find titles such as Prostate Poetry, Curing Cancer in Limericks, and The Ultimate Wish Book for Grown-Ups. Topics range from serious to light-hearted, and one just might be the perfect title recommendation for a patron in your library. Be sure to bookmark the site, because new content is added daily. In fact, we encourage you to tell your patrons about the site as well. If you're interested in receiving some promotional bookmarks, just let us know at marketing@bowker.com.

National Survey Results:
Long Overdue
In our never-ending quest to discover all the ways Bowker can help librarians serve their communities, we have come across a survey that may be of interest to our Bowker Bulletin readers. The Americans for Libraries Council has conducted a national survey with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to track the public’s opinion regarding the future of libraries in an Internet-centric world. Happily, the public values the library, and sees a bright future for libraries in their communities. 52% of respondents would rather raise taxes than cut library services or charge fees.
