Librarians Shaping the Future of Bowker
For over 130 years, it has been Bowker’s goal to create and provide products and services that meet the continually evolving needs of librarians. In support of this goal, it is customary for Bowker to conduct product surveys and gather customer suggestions for the betterment of our products.
We are proud to recognize the following librarians for their product enhancement ideas which have recently been implemented.
BooksInPrint.com Professional:
• Susan Godliewski from the Boston Public Library recommended that the
"E-mail" and "Print" links be moved to the top of the page.
PatronBooksInPrint.com:
• West Virginia Library Commission’s Mary Hogue proposed the ability to search by genre. This feature is now available exclusively in PatronBooksInPint.com!
ulrichsweb.com:
• Feedback from serials librarians at NASIG and Susan Davis at the University of Buffalo prompted us to change the "Document Access" tab to say "Abstracting/Indexing & Article Access"
• Sara Brownmiller, director of the University of Oregon Libraries, felt it would be beneficial to have library-branded OpenURL buttons.
Ulrich’s Serials Analysis System:
• The librarians at the University of Texas at
Austin (and Peggy Cooper, Coordinator of Collection
Development, Boise State University) recommended that
Ulrich’s Serials Analysis System should include
the ability to compare a library’s serials holdings
with that of a peer institution.
• Fatme Charafeddine of the American University of Beirut suggested the addition of Dewey Decimal numbers to Ulrich’s Serials Analysis reports.
Bowker greatly appreciates any and all feedback from our valued customers. Please direct any product suggestions to Marketing@Bowker.com, and soon we could be thanking you for your great idea!
